What Is GapAI Skills Lab?

Students do not only need more information. They need more chances to practise applying what they know. That is the gap Skills Lab is being designed to address.

A student might understand a topic in class, but still feel unsure when asked to complete a brief, explain a decision, analyse a case, or show work to someone outside school.

The vision is to create a space for realistic student tasks: research briefs, case responses, writing challenges, problem-solving exercises, portfolio prompts, and future work-style simulations.

Instead of asking students to stare at a blank page, Skills Lab would give them structured tasks, AI support, and feedback that helps them improve.

Practice without feedback can become guesswork. Feedback helps students notice what they did well, what needs work, and what to try next.

This is where AI can be useful when handled responsibly. It can help review structure, clarity, reasoning, and next steps while still leaving the student responsible for judgement and final work.

The most important part of Skills Lab is not the task itself. It is the proof that comes from completing and improving the task.

A student should be able to look back and say: this is what I practised, this is what I improved, and this is the output I can show.
